It is a large, epiphyte found at elevations below 500 meters. It will bloom on a fasciculate inflorescence with a flowers that smell foul against the pseudobulb. It is commonly known as the "Phalaenopsis gigantea-like Bulbophyllum", but not because of its flower, but its massive leaves.
In order for this species to grow well, it needs shade, good air circulation, and high humidity.
