Geum, also known as Avens, is a genus of about 50 perennial herbaceous plants in the Rosaceae family. Members of this genus are native to Europe, Asia, North America, South America, Africa, and New Zealand. They are closely related to the Potentilla and Fragaria (strawberries) genera.
